Beggars can be choosers...

...in France.

Though it does beggar the imagination:

CRETEIL, France, Oct 8, 2006 (AFP) - A dozen immigrants returned to a Paris-area gymnasium they have occupied for weeks after refusing to accept new housing located far from their places of work, their supporters said Saturday.

"The families refused to get off the bus after they realized that the housing center was located more than 50 km (30 miles) by highway from Cachan" where the families previously squatted, supporter Delphine Nakache told AFP.

"It's impossible for them to go to work."

....Issofou Somahoro, a representative of the squatters, said the families who boycotted their new shelters, located in the Paris suburb of Porcheville, would be relocated.
